ander-traxx is a fresh label operating out of glasgow with the intent of releasing righteous underground house, and although mainly a platform for the labels founder alex-ander to showcase his own productions, ander-traxxs remit also includes the presentation of unknown talent for future releases. for this first release, alex steps up to the plate to deliver because of me, followed by 3 remixes from artists born and raised in glasgow. the original kicks things off with its intro of glacial pads and jittery hats, before quickly delving into a seriousely deep groove brimming with melodic layers. although because of me gives a strong nod to the recent developements of producers like omar s and kyle hall, it undoubtedly has the hallmarks of an alex-ander production, his unique arrangements coming to the forefront while still complimenting the crisp percussion that drives the track forward. carlos nilmmns (co founder of the formidable solab production unit) mix is a much more off-kilter and submerged affair. nilmmns plays down the epic quality of the original and adds chugging rhythmics and sweetcured piano work for a lesson in divine repetition. mesumas feedback mix goes in for the dancefloor attack, not surprising for a gentleman whos previous work has seen releases on hardgroove and seventh sign. rolling toms and a booming kick meet aquatic vocal samples and spectral harmonicas, and will still please those partial to deeper sounds. last up to give because of me the rework treatment is meschi (lunar disko, lux, snuff traxx), who mixes his chicago influenced analogue stylings perfectly with the source material. stripped down crescendos build up to a euphoric drop, and meschis elated melodies bring another twist to this excercise in deep funk. because of me is one of those rare e.ps that works just as well in a non-club enviroment as it does on the dancefloor. with this warning shot, alex-ander will surely be capturing the ears of many in 2012 and beyond.

another great release on etichetta nera, this time is the toronto master greg gow. already on top labels such as transmat and his own restructured greg give us a track that came from the idea of blending detroit sounds with house and giving the track a good warm feeling with a nice groove. on the remixes francesco bonora & mirko remodel the track in their techno mood while corrugated tunnel version is more detroitish house. edwin was an instant fan of the original so he want to his remix a brand new feel with a laid back summer feel.

after the great success of jerk house connections velvet touch release, stalwart is quite proud to present you its 21st release from one influential member of the infamous broken beat uk combo bugzintheattic: orin walters aka afronaut. orin heard the slam poetry of suheir hammad, a speech about the wheel power not to give up into any extreme ideological, political and/or religious undemocratic system. he craftily joined his minimalist deep groove to emphasize it, giving birth to eye will not, a track that is sure to be noticed in any sets. on the remix treatment, bugzintheattic have been working on their classy broken beat treatment, whereas dj rork has been giving it an infectious hypnotic house touch with an heavy bass, while deep house man of the moment djeff kalukuta relift it for the more south african house music dance floors.

first up is 92, a straight up jacking deep house number with, as the title suggests, a retro flavour. the deep repetitive pads are jacked up with amen break style drums that were used so widely in electronic music back in the 90s. some quirky synth lines and vocal licks here and there give the track its touch of soul and then a fat bass line to bring in the bottom end. high quality simple yet effective house music...

the detroit threads team is at the center of a community of vinyl enthusiasts that take pride in their individual approach to sound. this community struggles to keep their vision alive though the warmth of the medium that holds a special place in the heart, vinyl. as the electronic sound evolves new faces and styles emerge to challenge the establishment. detroit threads hears those voices and works to give them a platform. hou531 and .kite were chosen to represent detrot threads, because they are the yin and yang of the detroit dubstep movement. hou531 has a rambunchous method of creating grinding dubstep that is a release from a lifetime of detroit pressure. where as, .kite uses ethereal synth ambience sprinkled lightly with drum and bass to create an environment that is both sad and beautiful. these artists are under the radar, but by no means are they irrelevant.

i know u combines tribal rhythms, pounding bass, insistent synth stabs, some distressed dialogue and a insanely large crash in the most maniacal way imaginable for what has to be one of the most devastating and original tunes for a very long time. sparse and spacious but yet rhythmical and energetic, lxc manages the ultimate arrangement balancing act here. the intensity increases gradually as the track progresses, culminating in an all-out tribal war ! a modern day jungle masterpiece from one of the most under-estimated producers around. on the flip, senses finally unleashes a track that decimated the very first technicality all-nighter back in 2004. 8 years later and that power is still very much in evidence! everybody want go heaven. nobody want dead – taking influence from the 1990 film marked for death, senses builds a dense vibe here, thick with imminent danger. rolling drums soon give way to a energetic ride-heavy break and pounding sub-bass hits. drum rolls drop and mentasms screech before the storm begins to subside half way through. the respite is brief however and after a complete silence the track reassembles, beginning with some insane slow to fast mentasm pitching which continues as a dark, slick reece begins to build with mysterious atmospherics. the tension is cut by the return of the drums – rolling along at first, before the mentasms and subs hit hard again, signaling a percussive onslaught! jungle just got catapulted into 2012.

masami akita and lasse marhaug have been working together since the mid 90ies. the first release on marhaugs (now deleted) label jazzassin records in 1995 was the >first rock< split single. in 2001 merzbow and jazzkammer (marhaugs project with john hegre) released a live album. later, akita and marhaug executed several live collaborations, but often with other artists such as hair stylistics and jim o rourke. in 2010 they finally got together to record as duo. recorded at gok sound studios in tokyo the results can now be heard as >mer mar<.
made using a combination of scrap metal screeching, analogue synths, and enough effect pedals to give you overweight with most airline companies, >mer mar< is a tour de force for both of these noise veterans, hinting to some classic 80s merzbow jams such as material action.

this latest offering sees luciano esse offer up three brand new slices of deep techno that give an insight into the musical world of this superb producer. from the spacious opener the foul through the darkly hypnotic the laziest man and on to the edgy and percussive black stick there is nothing but quality from beginning to end. another sterling release from a truly exciting label and a producer at the top of his game.

wax classic is a brand new skylax sub – label. for this 3rd release, we give you the opportunity to grab 5 fantastic trax done by housemaster : jason grove.born in detroit, he started his career in the late 80s, dj-ing in underground parties when the techno house movement was just at the beginning. he was invited few times on detroit local stations such as wdrq & wjlb to play. some said he was at that time very close to the >wizard<, helping producing their first tracks with anthony srock as final cut. he had many opportunities during the 90s to release some of his work on various prestigious labels, however, as the guy is really hardcore & straight edge, he prefered to continue producing only with analog gears (dont ever speak to him about a computer or he?ll get mad !) & record his work on cassette only, selling it to indie stores & giving it to friends for some special events (birthday, graduation ect ... !). after the incredible release we had on wax classic 1 (another skylax sub – label), you can grab finally the 2 nd part of those legendary tapes.

so after the elusive triumph of our first release finally came firmly into our grasp, we at sequencias here in new york thought it was time to take things in a parallel direction without retracing our steps. drafting three top names in underground deep house for a label debut is no mean feat, but how do you follow up on a surprise coup like that? we thought it was time to go even deeper, and we couldnt think of a better way of doing that than getting an experienced player to unveil a new alias for our second offering. things being as they are, weare trying to keep it a bit low here, but what we can let you know is that his discography stretches back to 2005 and that he has appeared on the illustrious bunker records. this should give you a good idea of what to expect: deeper-than-deep, dirty, and gritty house that jacks with the best the movement has to offer. we have to say that orpheus firmly delivers here, and we hope you will be as pleased as we are with the three dark and introspective offerings he unveils for his new project here at sequencias.

qore 3.0 is a new concept by the biggest hard dance event promoters in the world q-dance. with this new concept they wanted to melt several streams from the hardcore scene together. with a packed heineken music hall in november 2011 they managed to mixup the styles in one room and people went nuts. a fresh new concept to give the scene an extra boost. the soundtracks of this event are made by 3 separate artists who gave their vision and made smashing tracks.

numbernin6 is no new comer to the dubstep scene, but this is his first record for london label smokin sessions. the recordings are blissful and floaty, as you would expect from smokin sessions and really shows off what numnernin6 can do when he goes deep. the whole ep is masterfully produced and you can really hear these tracks have been given a lot of attention. i cant pick a favourite, but all 3 are a great listen. sit back, relax and spark it up rude eye!

excellent 4 track vinyl with fantastic deep house. it gets started with >spring loop<, a track that looks to its name both for feeling and production sense. of course that sensuous vocal sample that gets drawn through it wouldnt do the job on its own, but rau knows that too and surrounds it with a warm, humid bassline and his always changing and snapping drums to keep it in the pocket for the whole 5 minutes. even though the groove on the a1 is already heavy for him, he goes deeper yet with >swearing (vinyl version)< that jamaican vocal is something so classic that we wont spoil it here, but the pumping house beat and piano stabs he winds around it give even more poignancy to the lyrical substance… we are pretty sure that by the time he finally echoes the vocal out late in the track there will be some hands in the air for this one

the man whos seen it all, thats terranovas fetisch, but he had it coming. as punks earliest and certainly youngest adopter, he strolled through late 1970s berlin, then moved to new york researching the first symptoms of hip hop, only to find himself being a many clubs resident dj in london at the end of the eighties. enters terranova, shrouded in mystery from the very beginning, fetisch‘s go-to project, that he originally conceived in 1996 to explore new club territory, and that has since built its very own cult following. kompakt truly feels honored to be the new home to an artist with such a rich background in club culture, especially as terranovas latest incarnation includes berlins house staple and boywonder &me as well as guest singer khan in his preferred role as the longest running hype in the history of underground awesomeness. consequently, it is with great poise that the trio‘s latest 12inch >so strong< commands its army of listeners to the floor, not unlike terranovas first outing on kompakt, the confidently named i want to go out. both the title track and epic flipside boogie for the dollar make up for a double headliner that takes you on a beguiling trip to the dark side of the club. no only do terranovas sequencing and beat programming deliver in spades, the package also sports some of the best vocals khan has churned out to date, featuring his trademark fusion of cool indifference and pure sleaze: >i give myself up to your splendor... so strong.<

we are at the end of 2011 and so it is time for a record label to find a great final for the music year 2011. after four successful releases, mimique looks back to a fantastic start and presents music from his heads and calls all of it mimique ep. andy smith, steve haze, michel laro and the frenchimport mozaic do their share and give this ep a wide fan of music which represent the label. you could call it mimique style. many tastes will be satisfied with this release and will give a sweat appetite for the next mimique music year 2012.

uncanny the label that took everyone by surprise comes with more goodness! the third artist-ep by dresden-based label comes from house- and hip hop-mastermind cuthead and is nothing less than a proper power package. with vibratin things start off as deep as the bottom of the sea. underneath cutheads dense drums there is an intense and meditating synth line which is eventually complimented by an acid figure as if it was an evil twin. brother rolls in with a mighty kick drum, before a catchy sample and not less catchy piano motives prepare for a propitiating end. with transgressions and its bass line for the bigger floors things get down to house business once again. the remaining two tracks then give an impression of what happens, if cuthead takes to the mpc for his liveset. in seram lembah und heartless cuthead combines his drumming with south east asian disco-mantras und bittersweet blues chants to heavy hip-hop-grooves. loving it!
